"After giving careful consideration to the open race for Senate, I have decided to pursue re-election to my seat in the House of Representatives. Maryland’s Third Congressional District is home to many wonderful communities and I look forward to continuing my service on their behalf.
"I am particularly excited to be leading efforts in the House of Representatives to reform our broken campaign finance system so that we can restore the public’s faith in our democracy. In addition, service on the House Energy and Commerce Committee has given me the opportunity to work on a host of important issues affecting our nation. Recently, the committee has spearheaded bipartisan legislation to strengthen the Medicare payment system and invest in medical research at the National Institutes of Health.
"There is much more to do. We must mitigate the effects of climate change, bolster our nation’s renewable energy capacity, better connect our youth with the outdoors, protect the Chesapeake Bay and improve the quality of health care for every American. I look forward to tackling these and other challenges on behalf of the residents of Maryland’s Third Congressional District."
