Sarbanes Statement on SCOTUS Census Decision

Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) released the following statement today after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked the Trump Administration from including a citizenship question on the U.S. Census, sending the case back to a lower court:

“The Trump Administration’s dangerous and disingenuous attempt to undermine the U.S. Census never passed the smell test. While today’s court decision puts the Administration’s current plans on hold, we must continue to stay engaged in this important issue, follow the facts and undercover the truth about the partisan motivations behind the Department of Commerce’s efforts to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the House Oversight and Reform Committee – under the leadership of Chairman Cummings – as we continue our investigation into the Administration’s conduct.”
