Sarbanes Statement on House Natural Resources Committee’s Unanimous, Bipartisan Support for Chesapeake Bay Gateways Bill

Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) released the following statement today after the House Natural Resources Committee voted unanimously, in bipartisan fashion, to advance the Chesapeake Bay Gateways and Watertrails Reauthorization Act, a bill led by Congressman Sarbanes to increase recreation, education and public access to the Chesapeake Bay Watershed:

“As a national treasure and economic driver, the Chesapeake Bay plays a critical role in the lives of all Marylanders and residents across the Watershed. This bipartisan effort will help increase public access to the Bay and promote environmental stewardship by expanding recreational and educational opportunities. I want to commend Chairman Grijalva, Ranking Member Bishop and the entire House Natural Resources Committee for advancing this important bill, and I look forward to its consideration by the full U.S. House of Representatives.”
