Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today joined Senator Ben Cardin, Senator Chris Van Hollen and Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger (all D-Md.) to announce more than $1.65 million in federal funding for Baltimore County to fund the Towson Circulator.
The grant comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program. As part of nearly $14 million in statewide investments, this federal funding will support the purchase of new buses and infrastructure for the Towson Circulator.
“We are excited to announce this federal investment to help kick-start the Towson Circulator, which will provide a new, much-needed transit option to downtown Towson and the surrounding community,” the lawmakers said. “Maintaining a safe, reliable and convenient public transit system is critical to Baltimore County and we will continue working to expand and modernize transportation systems throughout Maryland.”
